About CEM Machine
Foundations: CEM Machine, Inc., was formed by Mark Robinson and Richard Mayo in April, 2000. Previous to the formation of CEM, Richard Mayo had been a successful manager of international pulp and paper equipment sales, and Mark Robinson had been the chief engineer for various large pulp & paper industry equipment manufacturers.
Facilities and equipment: In May, 2000, CEM purchased an 80,000 ft2 (7,400 m2) metal-working machine shop in the village of Carthage, New York. CEM also purchased a number of new, used, and reconditioned metal-working machines, thus equipping the new factory with the necessary equipment for quality large wood chipping machinery manufacture, specializing in large industrial wood chippers, microchip wood processors, woodyard/chip mill production quality improvements, and large scale machine work.
Staffing: At the time of CEM’s inception, the region had an abundance of skilled workers who were knowledgeable in chipper design and manufacture. CEM recruited an experienced staff of engineers, machinists, welders, field service technicians, sales representatives, and managers from this exceptionally talented workforce pool, and was able to immediately begin the design, production, and repair of industrial-sized disc wood chippers and wood chipper parts. Because of the skills and knowledge this staff brought to the table, CEM was also able to design, manufacture, and to provide new and repair parts, as well as to service for other large scale machinery, such as whole log splitters and hydro turbines. This team has since grown extensively, expanding its capabilities and knowledge and implementing numerous process and equipment innovations and improvements.
